This learning module discusses diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and what you need to know.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) refer to the practices and policies that aim to create a diverse, fair, and inclusive workplace or environment.

Diversity refers to the representation of different groups of people, such as those of different races, genders, sexual orientations, and abilities, within an organization or community.

Equity refers to the fairness and equality of treatment and opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their background.

Inclusion refers to the active engagement and support of individuals from diverse backgrounds, and the creation of a sense of belonging and acceptance for all.

DEI efforts seek to create environments where all individuals feel valued and can thrive, and where differences are seen as strengths rather than barriers.
Many countries regulate DEI in through provisions in labour laws, human rights laws, and criminal laws.
As a result of a lack of Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), some countries have passed Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action laws.
