This learning module discusses cybersecurity awareness
Cybersecurity awareness is the understanding and knowledge of potential threats and vulnerabilities to information and computer systems and the ability to protect against them. This includes being aware of the various types of cyber-attacks that exist, such as phishing, malware, and ransomware, and knowing how to protect against them. It also involves understanding the importance of strong passwords, keeping software and security systems up to date, and being cautious when sharing personal information online. It is important for individuals and organizations to prioritize cybersecurity awareness in order to protect against potential cyber-attacks, hacks and data breaches.
There are numerous examples of organisations that were hacked by hackers who then went on to demand large sums of money to unlock computer systems or not to sell data they steal.
